Knightstone Harbour Dolphins

Was over in Weston yesterday and noticed the Dolphins in the harbour are now occupied by the Bristol Queen and the landing craft that goes to Flatholme.

Bristol Queen used to moor against the wall leaving the dolphin free for visitors.

Is this a semi permanent arrangement now? I guess the harbour authority can rent the posts out to who ever they like but its a shame that the facility is lost to us.

Just had a weeks holiday on the Dingle Peninsula where we saw Funghie, the dolphin, who has lived there since 1983.

No idea why leaning posts are called Dolphins there's not much similarity with the flipper variety.

I to thought you meant the flipper variety, we were anchored the other side of Birnbeck Island on Sunday and didn't see any dolphins!

I saw a pod of about 8 to the SE of Caldey Island last week.

The structure you are calling 'dolphins' is a landing stage. A 'dolphin' has no access to shore and are constructed to allow large vessels to moor to a structure where their draft precludes going alongside a jetty or pier.
