I am bringing my 40ft Beneteau across the Atlantic this summer and need to find a new home for her for at least 12 months. Upon arrival I have to return to New Zealand and can't return till May 2015. My preference would be to have her hauled out somewhere secure. Does anyone have any suggestions of somewhere suitable on either the South Coast or in France.

Hi Cprebble.

Get in touch with Scott, a Kiwi like yourself, at this email address. scott@1degreewestmarine.co.uk.

He owns '1 degree west' and has his work shop/chandlers in Premier Marinas Southsea. Google up '1 degree west' for full info. When I was in Southsea Marina he was very helpful & did good work on my yacht Synergy. He could best advise you on places to keep your Beneteau & how to best store it.
Hope this helps

One denizen here used to take his Benny to Cherbourg for the winter and leave it in the care of the Benny agent there. Not sure if there are cost advantages for long-term storage.

Chantier Naval Cherbourg
‘Accastillage Diffusion’ chandlery
Dealer for Beneteau, Lagoon, Crescent, Yanmar, Yamaha, Nanni
Shipyard and all repair workshop

If the boat MUST be in SOF, Marina Baie des Anges has a very large dry storage. VERY expensive though.

If it was me, I'd do something in olde Blimey.

Berthon in Lymington has lots of space, secure, electricity to all positions, and all other services on site.

I'm sure it's very nice, but if I had the whole of both Channel coasts to choose from, I don't think I'd pick Lymington (or anywhere else in the Solent) to pay for.
