Is the url that comes up (above) as sinister as it looks - can it track logins when open - while you wait (endlessly) /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif for redirection?
it's the 3rd time in 3 days this character has spammed us. it starts to sound more sinister. if you have tried to follow the link and are using dial-up access i suggest you check your browser settings as some sites like this cause your modem to dial a premium rate line which can cost over £50 per hour.
if you find your browser is calling an 09.. number, please let us know!
Whaooh there. It's only spam, nothing more sinister than that, and it isn't hijacking browsers. Spreading confusion and fear without grounds, counts as bad as spamming in my book
All of these recent scams originate in India, or are at least facilitated through that country. We report them to ISPs but with no response. Have started blocking whole IP blocks in an attempt to control.
another s/butter received an email directing him to a website which also didn't seem to lead anywhere, just left him waiting. 2 hours later he had run up £120 on an 09 number.
now given reports that clicking on the link from these spams leaves people waiting endlessly, it sounds like it could be one of these scams. after all, why would someone waste time registering and inputting these posts if the site they are leading to doesn't bring in any business?
can you say for sure that the site(s) in these links are safe?
The links were removed soon after they landed - but I did check them out. Cannot vouch for the dilligence of the sites that they point to (the redirect opens multiple sites) - the usual you can have everything for nothing fare - but didn't detect any redial issues.
glad to hear it's just spam, persistant so-and-so isn't he!

so are there sweatshops in bombay where workers spend all day registering on fora to post spams? i suppose it was a logical step on from the call centre businesses.
