While changing my fuel filters I noticed a kink in the diesel return hose just as it nears the fuel tank. It's copper off the engine into one of those braided steel hoses then back to copper which seems to be tapered (?) ie two different diameters welded together before being joined to the spigot on the tank with a compression joint. Can I buy a replacement off the shelf or do I need to try and have one made up ? As a temp solution can I wrap the copper in one of those bandage type repair products, or will it get too warm to be of any use? I don't think it's in immediate peril, but would like to reinforce it somehow.

As suggested by TwisterKen, it is a bodge-up. so no, you can,t buy a replacement off the shelf. Working in copper with compression fittings is not difficult, but in a diesel system they do tend to leak a little due to the searching ability of the fuel.

Thanks guys, as I suspected it is a bodge job and I may need to get someone to make one up at some point. Amazing how many views for a post of that title...Twister Ken, is he one of your regular crew?
