Anything of interest in the area next week or should I take a few books to read?

Which is the most friendly yacht club to visit? I don`t do "Blazer & Cravat"!

So thats why we have a carboot full of proper food! Sauerkraut is on a par with Elvers!

Ahem, nothing wrong with Kings Lynn as such, though it's becoming known as Tsar Lynn just for ease of reference. Judging from my experience last Saturday of having to catch a train from Cambridge to Waterbeach, though, the local chavs tend to head out of town rather than stay there on a weekend. Thankfully BTP were out in force.
The train station would be my destination, and that's from someone who used to quite like the place

Bad sauerkraut is what you usually get in UK and yes, it is absolute carp!
Good sauerkraut. if you can find it, is delicious.
I've only ever found good sauerkraut in Germany and northern France, so good luck in Kings Lynn.

To be fair, there's a lot of history surrounding the place

Just that I'd be inclined to head for the station and take the short trip to Cambridge. If you decide to do that and find yourself in Waterbeach there's The Sun Inn, landlady is daughter of one of my regulars and it would be my choice of venue for there. Sadly I'm out and about lots otherwise I'd pick you up (not like that)

Pity! As I will have a case of "Kingstone" with me!

If you happen to be at a loss for something to do, and find yourself drawn in this direction, call ahead and I'll try and be available. Gift horse/mouth/loook springs to mind

It would be good to meet up after all this time, and I'm sure our supplier would be interested in a new source too, coincidentally I've got another meeting with the directors due soon

There's a sailing club (I think they do more cheap drinking than sailing) known colloquially as the 'Ouse Booze'. Proper name is something like the Ouse Amateur Sailing Club. It's down a narrow alley leading down to the river from ?High Street?, just near Tuesday Market Place. Follow signs to the pedestrian ferry to West Lynn the club is next to the landing place).

The visitor pontoon (further upstream) is said to be nearing completion (if not already open).

There are a number of reasonable pubs and restaurants, I'm told, but can't remember any names. (The Bankhouse rings a bell.)

There are some really nice buildings and spaces around the centre of the town and along the edge of the river (you have to leave the waterfront in places, then return to it further along), and nice garden/open space at 'The Walks' nearby. There's a museum of local life (fishing etc.) and history at True's Yard. There's a huge old church (actually the chapel to another chuirch in town) round the corner from there (on Chapel Street) no longer in use for worship and open some days with displays about local history, etc. there's a very short but nice walk through the churchyard to chapel Lane behind, with little old terraced cottages.
