As a new boy on this forum I don't want to get chucked out just yet (having already had enormous success with my 'let's form our own club' thread), so I would like to know exactly what is unacceptable on this site.

Not that I want to push the boundaries to the limit of course, but being a sensitive soul a warning from Kim would probably send me into another depressive bout of introversion and I would tell my Mum.

It is a worry that people appear to be getting banned with some regularity or has it just been the last few weeks?

PS I am not eco-warrior in diguise!

Nah! It happens all the time. Your time will come. I mean, you started off badly with a radical "lets start a club thing". Believe me, Kim has marked your card already. I give you a couple of weeks before the first warning, then maybe a couple of months before your first "binning". Thin ice, you don't know the meaning of it!

OK, to hell with it. Unbolt it and we'll use it as an anchor!

Re: Unacceptable

1. Nastiness to other contributors also known as "flaming"
2. Rude words such as f*** and c*** and suchlike
3. Being nasty about boats eg my compartive test of a certain make of boat and a pontoon, which was pulled last night even though it was quite good. The pontton came out on top.
4. discrimination on the basis of sex, race and so on.

5. Spilling coffee or red wine on the furnishings.

Ah now this is the crucial part of you training. You will comply with the great ones wishes, you will buy the hallowed book of learning every month and you WILL wave the flag with the rest of us.

Its not that bad really, just go forth and spread the word

OK, to hell with it. Unbolt it and we'll use it as an anchor!

The boring answer

Despite activities of past week bans are rare hereabouts. Ditto direct intervention.

We don't tolerate aggressive abuse of other users via posts or PMs. Duplicate IDs are discouraged and positively frowned upon if used to dominate forums with wind-ups. No forum is the personal fiefdom of the few and we ask that answers to serious questions are treated as such, especially with regard to new users.

Real straightforward stuff to keep everything on an even keel. Touch of respect for what we run here is all that is required.

Hope you consider that fair.

Now I'll hand you over to others who I am sure will put a more elaborate spin on things.

I would have thought it was a matter of common sense and decency really.

I am also a new user, having just bought my first boat and I look to the forum for entertainment and information - and find both in abundance.

As a Bayliner owner I find some of the comments a bit elitist but still entertaining and I was astounded by the amount of help offered when I posted my query regarding my Holding Tank. The regulars are very welcoming.

It is healthy to have disagreements on topics - again from my point of view as a new boat owner it broadens my understanding of the issues - but personal attacks and abuse don't belong here and I think Kim does a good job in this area (a**elicking or what!.).

It is the only forum on any website that I visit regularly (it seems to be getting addictive actually) and the only one I have ever contributed to.
