Hi Peter,

Yes, I've been watching your original thread. I think we'll all seen quite enough mud slinging on the motorboat vs yacht subject. If people want to carry on debating with an eye to coming up with some useful suggestions and/or sharing experiences with a view to resolving a 'conflict' that seems mostly local to the Solent, then it stays. I've a mind now to lock out subjective pap about the likely birth origins, chemical composition, financial clout and motives of one or the other of the types of boat owner. For starters, as someone who enjoys sailing and motorboating I'm now hugely confused about my social status, IQ and even organic construction :)

It's not your status as a motorboater or a sailor which affects your geneaology. It's being a moderator. It's one of those professions like estate agency, football referee or PR which makes you automatically persona-non-grata in polite company.
