Sad news for all who love traditional qualities in yacht design. Kim Holman, designer of the Twister among many other fine yachts, died on Friday night. I have no further details at the moment but I am sure there will be reports on the ybw sites very shortly.

Sad to hear this, my first proper cruising experience was in a Hustler 30 one of many Holman and Pye collaborations.

Excellent boat, nice shape, excellent cockpit and handled superbly. She could handle pretty much anything.

It was that boat that really sold me on what cruising was all about.

Very sad. I believe it was said of him, that he was incapable of designing an ugly boat. My Liz 29 is a Holman design, and I've been happy with her for over 20 years.

That's sad news.
I owned a Stella for many years & now a UFO. 31.
I met Kim a couple of times at Stella events and he always seemed to be a nice person.
I reckon it's always possible to spot a Holman designed boat by it's style, even if you haven't seen the particular class before.

Second all those comments as owner of Holman and Pye designed Seamaster 925.

In fact, James's comments on this boat helped me make up my mind to get her - and I have never had cause to regret it.

Holman was a truly great designer.
