Kim - Got the clatters again

There seems to be another banner(?) trying to lock up my computer on this site, shows as aduk tangozebra.com or similar launches an applet and starts up javascript or something whilst clattering the hard drive and preventing anything else from working. Any chance ther is a quick fix?

Apologies for the problem. I've not seen the symptoms you are describing so a bit hard to pin down. Any further feedback welcome, particularly where you were when it happened (ie here or somewhere elsoe on one of the sites).

Thanks for quick response. It happened several times on this forum whilst reading threads, it may also have happened on PBO forum I can't remember. The location is moving rapidly across the bottom of the page and is difficult to catch, but aduk and tangozebra appears consistently along with other stuff I missed, no banners or pop-ups materialise but another message shows that says applet loading and javascript something else...Whilst all this goes on the computer is taken over and the 'stop' button will not work nor can you load the next thread etc, all accompanied by continuous clattering of the hard drive.

Just happened again whilst trying to open a new post on this forum. It started with something like

ipcadbureau.net/hserver/SITE=YBW/AREA=YBW/......

I can't write it down quick enough for the rest, 'tangozebra' appeared again as did 'permafrost'

Okay, it's certainly one of the banners causing you a problem...I'll get it checked out.

It just did it on PBO forum as well, twice on the same post whilst switching threads.

Robin, sounds like you've got a memory problem, problem being you computer is running to many programs at once. Before you log onto the net try closing all programs apart from explorer, Systray and you isp program(ie AOL, bt internet, ect.) Press Cntrl, Alt & Del together, it will give you a box telling you whats running in the background, highlight all of em or most of em except those above and clic end task. you'll be surprised how much quicker you machine will be

Thanks, useful to know. However this only happens on this site and Kim cured it last time OK. It seems to try and launch a banner advert that never actually appears (unless I don't recognise it) and which I wouldn't read anyway. My computer is definitely slow by modern standards P133 128mb RAM, but it works fine everywhere else and I don't want to have to buy another one yet just to read the forums!
