Why are so many people double posting?

Are they pressing the continue button too early?

can a fixed be found? or maybe a post to educate us how to stop it happening.

Ah now, I've had that. What I normally do is press the browser back button and then click main index. Click the thread that I was posting to and 9/10 my post/reply has been entered.

I did raise this on the website news forum and Kim gave an explanation as to why its happening,

It's happening at the moment because the database is getting stressed due to all the extra traffic and so delivering acknowledgement pages back slower than people have come to expect. Quite apart from a big increase in registered users there are a lot of people coming in and using the search facility, which is slowing things up at peak time.

Growth has been very big in past 12 months, well beyond our projections. No quick answers at this stage as we are going to need to dig deep for the next change.

The short answer is if you have pressed submit your post will have been filed; pressing submit a second time won't speed the process (in fact it will slow it down).

How come I can't double post. I used to be able to but now if I've clicked on "continue" twice I get a message telling me that the post already exists. Is this IPC's way of telling me I'm an inept (& grumpy ) old man ?
