Outboard is a Yamaha 40 hro.

Recently RIB and outboard donated to local seascout group in North Fambridge.

Managed to get it started and runs reasonable well. Issue with kill switch not stopping engine though. Checked switch and wiring from console to engine with a multimeter which seem to be working correctly.

Wires appear to end up in the Regulator Rectifier part no. Sh625-12

No electrical start and kill cord located on a Yamaha 701 remote control.

Any help would be appreciated, also a work shop manual would be good.

Many thanks.

I would have expected the kill switch wiring to end up in the CDI unit , not the rectifier regulator. That just rectifies and controls the electrical output from the stator coil for battery charging

Maybe you can find a manual and wiring diagram on Boatinfo at http://162.144.28.33/lib/library.html#

If I recall on my old Yamaha 40 I had a kill switch problem when I bought it too.
I just wired in a generic aftermarket kill switch.

Pretty sure connections were white wire and black wire. I ran a new pair from the outboard to the new kill switch. contacts shorted for off.
