Khamsin of Northney Javelin 30

Hello, my father used to have a javelin 30 called Khamsin. I wonder if its the same boat? Is yours yellow? I had many happy trips on it, it would be nice to know what it's been up to! Philip

Anybody out there know anything of this boat or her sisters?

Hi, Robert. I, along with friends owned Khamsin of Northney for many years. Whilst in our ownership I painted her hull blue with a pearlescent white stern and fitted a new engine. She sved me from stormy seas many times.

A pretty boat, the Javelin, in a very 70s way.

Bags of tumblehome and a pinched in stern as I recall.
I've not sailed one but I had its baby sister the Mystere, which had a more moderate stern. It is interesting to compare them with the Sadler 32, also with a pinched stern, but underwater the lines are very different. The Sadler is much fuller with almost a canoe shape aft in comparison. I imagine the Javelin handles more like my Mystere. It was very steady downwind for a boat of the time; if you eased the backstay it would almost steer itself under spinnaker.

I am SO SORRY Wilhelm. I have been going through old posts and threads, deleting pages and pages of "watched Threads" which were no longer looked at. I have just seen your 2018 reply to my query in 2012.

I no longer have Khamsin, sold her last year, but have so many fabulous memories of my ten years ownership.
If you are still posting/watching and feel like rekindling the thread, please do so.
She taught me a huge amount about proper sailing - and myself.
Fair winds and kind waters to you
Robert

I believe Khamsin may have been the prototype of the Javelin by Fred Parker.
I used to crew aboard Scrambler then owned by the late Mike Fawcett at Warsash . If memory serves I believe I had a discussion by PM with Robert about a Javelin.
Javalot was another boat ( in Yellow ) hull also seen here on the River Hamble.
Mike also had another yacht from Fred Parker, designed for more of a family cruising yacht to replace the Javelin.
As an aside Mike was involved in the Mustang 30 build/trials with its designer in the I.O.W as his replacement of the above.
