Kelvin Hughes Kingfisher 20 specification needed

Hello everybody,

Can anyone give any information on this radar? The only thing I see on the nameplate is: "Kelvin Hughes Kingfisher 20. Made in Korea" and serial number.

The general questions are: wavelength, pulse duration, range, peak power, antenna beamwidth, polarization.

No papers or documents are available. Any handbook, user manual or scheme of this unit is most wanted.

I have the radar complete with manual lying in the garage.

1.8ft slotted waveguide in 24" dome.
25RPM. Horiz width <4.5deg @ -3dB point. Vert width 25deg @ -3dB point
9" green monochrome CRT raster scanned.
Min range - better than 25metres on 0.25nM
Max range 16nM ranges: 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 nM
Xmit freq 9410 +- 30MHz. 3KW Pulse length 0.08 or 0.65 range dependent, PRF 750Hz

12V 24V or 32V 55watt max.(on 12v &24V)

The radar was built by a company called Goldstar and marketed by KH around 20 years ago.
Definitely X band.
No longer supported with technical advice or spare parts.

But I'm intersting in Kingfisher'20 which has no dome with rotating antenna (near 1 m length) instead. I can't even find an image of this on the internet.
The final goal is to squeeze the raw signals from the mixers for the next processing, but before i need to know some general parameters. What may be the difference between Kingfisher'10 and '20?

The Kingfisher 20 was the model with an open scanner as opposed to a radome.

I doubt whether you will get any detailed information on the circuitry of this radar. It is very old and even Kelvin Hughes, who are no longer involved with small boat radars, have no manuals for it.

FYG these radars were supplied and supported in conjunction with the Husun 55/60/65 VHF and small echo sounders, by a dedicated equipment leisure division.
This division was closed in the early 1990's.
