The long planned first cruise round to Ramsgate having been curtailed due to blimming wind, we are lucky enough down here to have an alternate destination when things look lumpy outside.
So off up to Maidstone for the weekend under that scary bridge.
Not sure who took this neat picture but thanks anyway
River remarkably clear of debris probably due to recent severe flooding and first stop at the much refurbed Allington Lock
EA have invested a small fortune upgrading the entire lock area including resurfacing and much tree planting, in addition other work futher upstream.
Hopefully work should be finally completed soon, the log cabins and the camping area available for rent in the near future.
As usual paid for a weeks registration, cheaper than paying for three separate nights.
Stopped in the lock cut overnight and on up to the Town centre in the morning.
Noticeable further increase in the number of boats putting landing stages of scaffolding driven into the river bank and laying on power supplies to their boats.
Remained in the town centre overnight with around half dozen other boats and had natter with the owner of a very nice 42/5 who has a mooring at Allington.
This is the Bishops Palace just above the town centre moorings and the bridge is the last one we can get the boat under before the very low arches of East Farleigh.
