So my larger boats are out of the water and you have a day of work and the weather is lovely at the end of October. What do you do.

You go out in your baby rib up the river and out to sea as it was flat calm (oh and rescue a raggie who had gone aground on the bar). This little boat is as far as I am concerned the best fun you can have for a small expenditure (£2400) and incredibly economic. All today I doubt if I will have used 5 ltrs on the little 15 hp 4 stroke.

Dead easy to launch and retrieve on your own, you just pull it on and off the trailer by hand.

She is a Valliant D340 and I love her, I plan to use her as and when all winter. If you haven't already you should all have something similar

why not keep your boat in the water and use her

Only have a swinging mooring and it is £100 per month would be unlikely to use it more than 3 or so times over the winter and she would foul up a lot. Most of the boats where I am come out about now

Even though I keep mine in all year, do have a little one to buzz around in occasionally. Picture from February last year on the Orwell.

Will

If I had not seen the words Avon on the side I would have thought that was my Boat. I will have to bring mine to the orwell soon. The thing is I pay all year launch fees at the ferry on the Deben and she is a little small to take round to the orwell in case it roughs up. I am too mean to pay launch fees when I already Pay at the ferry. Is there anywhere on the Orwell you can launch for free or very cheap

Regards

Dennis
