My new boat (an Endeavour 40) has a hollow keel that is molded as part of the boat and is where the 4 tonnes of lead ballast lives along with the water and diesel tanks.
The back edge of the keel stops around 2ft infront of the skeg the rudder is hung on.There is no piece joining the keel to the skeg.
From different people I have been told this configuration just fin & skeg, Modified fin & skeg, long fin & skeg and full keel & skeg(if there is such a thing).

Anyone know what the real answer is?

Thanks

Andrew

I'm not sure that there is a hard and fast ruling, all boats are different to a greater or lesser degree. Fin & skeg or long fin & skeg.

Agree with Dave this is where common sense might apply.
I've always assumed f & s is a fin deeper than its length; long f & s the reverse.
Assume modified f & s is a fin with an appendange like wings.
And agree it would be hard to surely find a full keel and skeg -IMHO the rudder is normally attached to a full keel with no skeg at all..........?

What ever the correct technical term may be, ask your travel lift operator what he would call it.
If he asks you if you have a skeg before a lift and you tell him yes. A bendy propshafts not his problem.
