Hello!

I have also a 'new' 20yr old Etap 22.

Haven't done it yet, so I can't be much help - sorry!
But people I have asked have said it's not hard......

Only help I can offer is this address where you can find the original ETAP 22 handbook (under Techn. Data) if you haven't already got it. page 18.

I thought it all sounds too simple, so I'll be very interested to hear how you get on for when I have a go at it at the end of the season!

I have the handbook and yes it looks easy, the prob is it doesent show how it goes back together.
I cant tell from the drawing how the shaft uncouples from the keel. Anyway I will let you know how I get on.
I will remove soon. Many tks . cul

I have an Etap22i and removed the keel a couple of years ago. I don't know how the 22 and 22i differ but the job was quite simple. My boat has handle which is inserted at the base of the mast to raise and lower the keel. this turns a verticle threaded shaft which passes through one of the rubber runners which are attached to the keel. On my boat I had to cut away a small section of the keel box to allow me to remove the rear rubber runner. I then lowered the keel onto the tailer ane dismantled the assembly below the mast and removed the shaft. Then I had the boat lifted off the keel. The keel did stick a little when the two rubber runners were exiting the hull. You must have plenty of people around to support the Keel, it is very heavy! I then had my keel sandblasted and galvanised. I then painted it with two pack epoxy paint and anti-foul. Refitting is the reverse of the above. Good luck. If your boat has the same arrangement and you need any further information, please don't hesitate to contact me.
