Keel reinforcing

Hi Brian,
I have been going over the job and I recon that I will remove all of the existing structure, clean it all up then start with the longitudinal sections then fit the cross members. Problemsare going to be the keel bolts and tying the structure in at the forward end. When you do this sort of job, how do you cap off to allow for the floors? Also how many lavers of glasscloth would you advise? This is taking longer than I thought as work keeps getting in the way!
Thanks for the help.

Ensure your hull is not going to flex before you remove any of the keel box.
Better to layout all members, this will avoid untidy and over thick areas where two members cross each other; and it makes the job easier. Also set up string lines to ensure you have the clearance required for the floor sheets.
Remove some of the old material around the keel bolts after all cross members have been installed and cured, then re-lay with new cloth, no need to go too close to the bolts.
You can tie in the front section by grinding some out and feathering in new material.
The number of layers will depend on the weight of cloth you plan to use and the profile of the foam former.
I would be using the rounded top 'A' form and looking for a 7 to 10 mm cover at the apex and start feathering about 100 mm out.

Avagoodweekend......
