Not noticed before but there is definitely a trace of fuel oil or lube oil in the cooling water coming from the exhaust. There is that streaky hint of an oil slick drifting away on the surface of the water in the vicinity of the exhaust outlet. Might be bad news, especially as the engine has only done 60 hours.
This was only on start up but did not run it long enough to see if it was like that when hot. Does this happen on this engine when cold? valve guides or something?
What do you think?

All engines seem to do this a little bit. I get a minute trace of oil when I start them up but nothing when they are running (63p's) I do now get a large amount of neat engine oil being pumped out of the bilge when I step on the boat though/forums/images/icons/smile.gif

probably just a bit of unburnt fuel. Most VP non-edc engines will do this to some degree. Shouldn't be a big slick, tho...

Thanks to all.
No, 60 hours is not much.
Only had two decent runs. Brighton to Solent.
Boat lets us down both times.
First time lower helm steering wheel fell off and flybridge power connection fell off at the engine.
Second time a high pressure injector pipe fractured. Diesel everywhere. We came home by car.
I am told these "teething troubles" not uncommon in boats up to 50/60 hours!!!!!!!!
