KAMD 43 - 230 BHP - Max revs

Can anyone with this engine advise me what max revs they get?
The spec sheet says 3900 rpm but I dont recall ever seeing that from new but now after having a new cylinder head gasket fitted I only get 3600 rpm and am a couple of knots down on speed. Volvo dealer says only way to check it is a sea trial to check max boost pressure. I can sort of believe the turbo may be dirty as the engine has not seen much flat out action for some time while we had a tinly weep from the head gasket that only happened at max revs. When the head was off though everything was remarably clean. Its only done 260 hrs so it should be I guess!!

Unlikely to get get max revs exactly, but you should be getting the same as before.
Are you saying it is topping out at a lower figure and if so by how much?

I have KAD43's with max revs of 3900 although unless the boats bottom is spotless and I've removed all the junk on board I can only get around 3700-3800 WOT

What Kev said. Dirty bum at the moment, and we can barely make 3600. Best I've ever seen was just touching 3800, but bear in mind the tachos are only a best guess.

Well its not a dirty bum. It was only lifted back in after the anti-foul about three weeks ago.

My trouble is I just dont recall what it used to top out at. I never used to run it flat out much and especially not recently when we were nursing a weeping head gasket. My feeling is we used to get around 3800rpm.

I know I used to get 21 kts and now I only get 19. Hull is clean and no extra gear on board. If weather is kind next week we hope to do a few hundred miles so I think we will work it hard for a while and see what develops!!!!

Never seen 3900 on my KAD43's (Sealine S37) more like 3700 tops delivering 30knots

Air filters and fuel filters are well worth a check.

I got 4000 once, literally straight after a bum clean but a week later it was 3900.
