Kalik?

I can't help with Kalik but the Kylix was a 27ft Maurice Griffiths design much like the Eventide or a bigger Cockler. MG designed Kylix for himself in 1971 and she was his last boat. He retired from sailing in 1974 when he sold Kylix following an accident on board. He was 74

I've been aboard a 33' one. Not sailing just for drinks! Seemed a well built boat with a rather useless aft cabin. More like a tomb. The owners refered to it as "The Garden Shed". Did the ARC 2003, in about 24 days IIRC.

Yanita, there is a Kalik 40 for sale in Southsea marina, called Jon. Herald from Thailand and those parts. Looks fantastic but the equipment on board is dated. Build quality looks very good. Would rekon that she would be a very fast passage maker. Jon has been on the market for some time, at least two years. Problem seems to be the rarity of them in this part of the world. Apparantly more common in Asia and Oz

My brother in law has a Kalik 33. I believe they were designed by Jan de Ridder (or something like that!) and that the hull of his boat was moulded in USAF and fitted out in Holland. He has cruised her extensively in the South West and speaks highly of her. Usual sort of interior. Masthead sloop, large genoa. She has a teak deck which is quite smart. I think some were moulded in the far east but that may be incorrect. Hope this is helpful.

proably too late as an answer :
Kalik
-designed by Jac De Ridder which is one of the household names in the Netherlands, usually pretty good designs
-built by Vennekens. sounds a bit weird that a semi-Belgian woulnd't know Vennekens... located in Boom, on the Rupel river (a bit upstream from Antwerp, just on the other side from Klein Willebroek, if you have never been there, check it out).
Quality of built of Vennekens is usually good to outstanding, style might be a bit outdated, especially when coming from an Etap you might find it dark & woody. since most of what they do is semi-custom to full custom the looks and layout can be totally different from what I have seen so far
not the fastest gun around, but when going blue water sailing the odds might be better than what you had with the Etap

Thank's a lot for the link.

It may appear weird that a "semi" Belgian doens't know about Vennekens, but most "full-blown" Belgians I've contacted did not know about them either.
Managed to track them down through Belgian Yellow Pages, but did not get the website URL.

The Kalik's one of two remaining possibles. Wife & kids fell in love with it.
Internal arguments between heart, mind and wallet.
Should put an offer in soon - wife's in charge of the negotiations.

PS: The Kalik 44 is a Gary Mull design. Have been told she sails like a HR. Met the owner - his 2 previous boats were HR.

be quick or I\'ll beat ya

was just looking at the botenbank website and noticed too that it's a Gary Mull design, not De Ridder, the smaller Kaliks tended to be De Ridder's

looks like a lot of boat for the money, so if you buy it, best of luck with it, you'll be a little less noticeable sitting in the dock in Oostende though, Yanita's red outfit was a bit of a landmark ;-)

if ever you would need to go to Vennekens ... by water it's far easier to find than by land, make sure you have a GPS with you ;-)
