Kad44 ignition live wire

I'm trying to find an ignition live connection in my engine bay that I can use to switch on an external voltage regulator.

Anyone know a simple place to pick it up off the engine?

pick it off the battery feed to the engine ? (with a fuse)

That's a permanent live from the battery master switch I want it to only be live when the ignition is on. I assume there would be one in the relay box or somewhere else?

Look in the electrical box on the engine for a blue/red wire, this is always an ignition switch controlled supply on Volvo engines.

So the easiest to find is the feed off the gauge illumination - it is only live when the ignition is on and can be found as one of the blades off the push button switch.

Make sure you read the volts off it and compare to the battery terminal - the regulator wants to know what the battery volts are and there will by now be some resistance in the wire - so ensure that it reads very very close to the battery voltage

@robreluckily the Balmar 614 regulator has a separate battery sense connection from the ignition live so wired the sense direct to the battery thanks
