KAD44 EDC replacement

The forum has been very helpful with advice on faultfinding a supercharger/compressor problem, but got as far as I could and Volvo engineer has now conlcuded that I need a new EDC control unit /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Is this failure a common problem, and is it true you can only source the replacement from Volvo (as it has to be specially 'programmed' for the particular engine number)?

Any advice?

I don't think these guys can supply the EDC unit. It seems it has to come only from Volvo dealer.

Hi, I had an issue where port supercharger was not working. Diagnosed as new edc by a main dealer but by changing a sensor (not sure which one) it started working again. Has not been an issue since

I'm no great engine person but do ensure these little things are explored (i'm sure that you have) as it almost cost me a small fortune

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to swap over the other engine's EDC tomorrow so that should finally prove it.

Swapped over the EDC's today and yes that was the fault.
