Kad44 cleaning the strainer - need for prime ?

Hello friends !

I cleaned the strainers on both engines and after a checkup if the cap is tight i found out the port impellerpump plate gets hot - so does not suck water . Do i need to prime the housing after cleaning the strainers ???

Just tip some water into the strainer so it wets the impellor and it should prime it.
