Hi Richard and welcome to the Forum.
I have Kad 42`s and have had over heat problems. The over heat alarms tend to start squeeking at around 97 degrees. Now Mine have been sorted they both run around 87 at cruising speed (3500rpm) and rise to just on 90 at full welly (3900 rpm). After taking off the heat exchangers, intercoolers, oil coolers and even the power steering oil cooler and cleaning them with brick acid, rebuilding both raw water pumps and checking all the hoses I was still overheating. Problem turned out to be a bad earth to the temp guages. Sunseeker piggy back all their earths to the guages and it turns out you only need a dodgy connection in a lucar connector in the chain to make the temps read 10 -15 degrees more than they really are running at.
Hope this helps
Paul

HI,

Yes I agree about 90 degrees at 3500 RPM seems to be the optimum, I have only had an over heat one this was due to a bit of string that had got it self caught round the impeller and that went to 200+f and the alarm went off - but dropped the revs and it was ok - and sorted it when I got back to the Marina

Richard,
I have a Kad43p and I cannot run with the thermostats in,
The engine has been reconditioned with all parts cleaned and clear and still I have to run the engine cold. This has been ok for the passed year I just need to be careful at the freeze.
Good Luck
