HI- I have seen quite a bit of talk about this particular problem that seems to be blighting me now

When I replaced the belts last year I thought the supercharger tensioner was a bit rough and it has now started to squeal.

I note that Volvo have an upgrade replacement and was wondering if anyone had experience of these over the standard and an idea of the relative costs?

On another point I had noticed a bit of roughness through the drive and was worried about expensive drive repairs (I have not had good experience with outdrives so far)- we also noted that the carefully applied layers of primer and antifoul had come off the props in only a couple of months- Transpires that when I refitted the duo props I had put the spacing washer behind rather than in front of the rear prop reducing the clearance- this seems to have set up cavitation on the front prop rapidly eroding the paint.

Fortunately no permanent damage to the props just a red face!

My KAD42's had the tensioner pulleys upgraded to the type that use 2 8mm allen keys to adjust them - very easy to adjust. I understand there is another upgrade that is fitted to the KAD 44 & 300 series that just use a torque wrench to adjust them. Don't know how much they are but don't think they are too much.
As to the roughness, with engine running but in neutral turn the stearing to port and starboard. If it is noisy on the hard locks but quieter in the straight ahead position, indicates wear in the UJ joint and needs repair or replacement.

Good luck

Eddie
