The stbd engine's developed a high pitched whistle so thought I'd take a video of both engines for comparison. There's no loss of power, the boat still leaps out of the hole.

What do you reckon, air leak somewhere? Should I check air filter fittings, compressor and turbo pipe circlips and the like? Presume if it is an air leak I can detect it by spraying 'something' in an around the engine to see if it gets sucked in or blown away at some point, if so, what's the best aerosol to use please?

Am I wrong? could it be something more sinister? Potentially the turbo on its way out?

Here's the whistler

and here's the port engine for comparison

I'll check the compressor oil level too

Thanks in advance for your advice.

cheers Gary

Have you tried swapping the two air filter elements over?

good suggestion Paul but just had a look around and found two faults, one on each engine. The air filter to Turbo pipe on the port engine circlip wasn't tight and the same circlip on the stdb had come completely off!!! Tightened the port, refitted the stbd and all sounds fine and dandy, phew!

It sounds like the outlet elbow on the top of the supercharger. There is a silicone joint under it which leaks directly under where the pipe attaches. Undo the six bolts with a 10mm spanner remove the elbow, clean the surfaces and refit with a small amount of sikaflex on the faces.

There's a flexible hose inline behind the supercharger, held with 2 hose-clips; more than likely one of these is loose

So glad to see you are doing your AFI/BFI's on your engines before going out!! lol

lols... I do but clearly not in the circlip division. deserve a clip around the ear for this one, just don't tighten too much please ;)
