Hi guys looking for some advice and help. I have a astondoa 40 with two kad300’s

the transmission shaft was to be replaced on the starboard motor. Whilst slowly moving to the crane the starboard engine cut out. (It was running on idle so I had power steering, it would not engage in to gear)

it now will restart but the engine fires up and then immediately dies. It’s not showing any electrical faults, fuel pump is showing no sign of fuel leakage and was serviced by Volvo end of last year
Any ideas on what else it could be?

Will upload a video in next post.

Check the fuel supply to it , tank(s) cock , filter , pipes thoroughly for restrictions .

Not sure about this particular engine but theses days modern engines have so much electrotwackery that this stuff needs a fully functioning alternator to feed enough juice for the thing to run .Starter bats may spin it up and fire ....but after that if the alternator is not feeding it properly.....they die , cut out .Some VP expert hopefully will be along here and clarify this particular point if it applies with the KAD 300 . But you say no dash lights on so unlikely unless it’s been drenched by sea water to such an extent ( checking the strainer ) its all messed up ??Inc it’s ability to throw a light ?

I recall a emergency stop button Some where .on the black box ? ......if it needs power ( solinoid) to somehow allow starting , then that’s lost 30 secs later ....or which ever way round ? .......so check that out .

How much use after the Volvo guys were on it ? .......ask them to return .

Thanks. They are going back today to chain the ecu brain over as every other component was swapped over last night. The cutting out seems electrical as it’s so consistent all the time. If it was fuel it should start and run for a bit longer?
