KAD 42 power loss

First thread from me. Use this board for advice so thought i would share a learning point from myself. Boat is a 1993 Fairline Targa 31 with twin KAD 42's. Port engine was not achieving full power. Only getting to approx 2700 revs. Changed fuel filters etc but no luck. Eventually found the probem was air leaking from a sheared bolt on the rear of the 'aftercooler'. Removed unit, had the bolt drilled out and refitted. Worked perfectly. Faily simple job for a non mechanic. Identified fault by feeling round back of engine and felt air movement(whilst being carefull of moving parts!!). Now trying to resolve a slightly overheating (90 degrees) engine. Hope this helps someone.

Thanks for sharing, useful to know. Our last boat was a Targa 35 with KAD42's. Now sold but we know the new owner and our next boat is likkey to have the VP 4 series engines.
