Evening all....
After spending a lovely weekend with SWMBO, on leaving Heybridge Basin got the boat up on the plane, everything going fine for 5 minutes then all of a sudden loss of power - felt as if we'd hit something, which wasn't the case. Checked the drives and props, fired the engines back up, set off again, compressors kicked in at 1700 as per, and then slowly she chugged on to the plane.
The starboard engine less willing than the port side engine - as if the port engine was dragging the starboard engine along.
Do I have a turbo problem ?
What would the forum members recommend I do about rectifying said situation ?
Have started both engines in neutral, revved up to 4000rpm individually, both sounded and acted the same.
All belts checked, everything else seemed normal
Thanks in advance
Nick

Fuel blockage I'd say, maybe slipping water pump belt as it drive the supercharger, slipping supercharger clutch or it's own belt from the water pump pulley, loose hose between supercharger and inlet hose on turbo. Sounds like fault is only on starboard motor not allowing port motor to reach wot.

While your on Paul, a friend at the marina has just mentioned to me today that he doesn't think that 1 off his super chargers is working ( he has a pair of kad32 ) because one engine didn't pull / rev like the other it took a while to get on the plane but as soon as turbo spooled up she was away.
I asked is belt ok ? Reply was yes as far as I could see, not checked myself or even looked in engine bay & im not sure on friends level of engine knowledge.
What do you think ?
Cheers.

Get your friend to check the belt tensions, the primary belt has to drive everything. It's not good just looking at it as most people do, get a torque wrench set at 45Kgf and do the job probably - Simples

Thanks to all and paul for help on this issue, had all new filters at start of season, but will check primary, belts felt fine/tight but there was slight belt wine from said engine, will investigate further....

14mm socket, 15mm spanner on nut behind it to tighten when tension achieved.

If belts ok ? Wiring to clutch pulley ?
Other thing is it easy enough to put a switch in so that if you was at the revs where it had charger (s) running constantly you could disengage the clutch pulley & charger save it hammering belt ???

Hi
In the black box on top of engine, locate the white cable going to speed relay, cut this cable and wire in line a switch. I would locate the switch at the dash so it's easy to use so of course you will need quite a length of cable from engine to dash (and back).
I personally would not use the engine above 2000rpm with the supercharger switched off, however I hope this is of some help to you.

Thanks for that info I will pass it on this weekend.
Re 2000rpm a switch has come about due to doing tidal river work & he has ended up sat at 1700 rpm with chargers running & filling engine bay with black belt dust !
Cheers

update, and west mersea regatta

Well folks, update,
Got to the boat this weekend, and had aranged for engineer to meet me at bradwell, however on the 10 minute trip over there was no sign of the afore mentiond lack of power , PHEW! must have been mucky fuel, checked filters, some brown colouring at the bottom of offending filter, other ok, added startron and have orderd new filters,
so hopefully job done.
PS, had a cracking weekend, west mersea regatta etc, green man fete on the sunday, good times aboard, and the engines running well, result!!
