Hi Chaps
Considering a boat fitted with a KAD 300 fitted anyone know of any vices with this beast besides the usual not exactly cheap spares.

The engines are reliable and don't give much trouble now the earlier KAD series vices have been thoroughly sorted out.
Due to the design of the engine you can expect to add 3hrs labour to normal service costs when the valves need adjusting, this is because you have to remove the oil filter mounting, fuel filter and EDC module to get at the injection pump to remove the injector pipes so that you can remove the rocker cover as the injectors stick up thro' the cover!
On this point make sure the valves have been checked as per schedule as this is where the previous could have cut corners with servicing.
Early models used to eat supercharger belts, but there has been a mod kit out for the tensioner wheel for the last 18 months so check to see if it has been retro fitted.
