I've just bought two Alfa gadgets the AWUS036H and the R36 802.11B, at the moment I have it plugged into the inverter but as the little transformer attached to the wires steps it back to 12vDC would I be right in thinking that I can just cut it off and wire it direct into the boats 12v circuit. Bearing in mind that the batteries can be showing a voltage of up to 14v when they are topped to brimming with wiggly amps.

I can't see much of a problem doing this but am just looking for confirmation that it will be ok and I won't end up with a useless router

To ensure a 'reasonably' stable 12v, I bought an adaptor from Amazon which plugs into a ciggie lighter socket. Similar to this one.. http://www.audio-electrical.co.uk/l...igarette-adapter-12v-3a-55-x-21-mm-1421-p.asp..

I can't see anything to suggest that the item you link to is anything other than a straight 12v DC connection. If you are concerned about a 'stable' 12v supply for the R36 I suggest you need a proper 12v DC-DC converter. (Personally I would at least try it on a direct 12v DC feed from the battery).
