...or How a Moboer starts a Sailing Race (ARC+ Atlantic Crossing)

At the skippers briefing they told us we could use our engines at the start line should the wind be absent....

Needless to say that in timeless Tortoise and Hare fashion we came 60th from from a field of 72 - but we were in the lead for 5 minutes ;)

I'm unsure why, but I find that incredibly funny.
I'm imagining a mustachioed Race Officer at Cowes Week looking at the size of that wake, and exploding with apoplexy ...

Boat looks great. I’m a little bit envious tbh as I’d quite like to do a transat but doubt I ever will. GFI.

:D
genuine Q, did the captains/crew from the other 71 boats talk to you now, or have you become invisible to them and obviously the disgrace of the 2018 ARC+ race? :D

have fun and looking fwrd to the thread!

cheers

V.

A good friend of mine did the ARC last year in his Oyster 575, had almost no fuel left by the time St Lucia hove into view.... Mind you his genny could power a small village

TBH we’ve had a wonderful experience in terms of the boat crews that we have befriended. There are a few that seem to have taken things a little more seriously than others but nothing more than that. The guys that took the video thought it was very funny and made a point of coming to find us to give me the clip.

It’s easily done, we put 700 litres to good use, we did run the air con and probably used either alternators or generator for 4 hours per day. We also ran the engines for 4 days solid.
