Just had a visit from Border Force .

We anchored overnight in Sharfleet to get an early start up to St Kats (we're on a drying mooring) and just rounded the Montgomery when a cutter dropped a black rib in and we were promptly boarded, Cheryl was still in her PJ's clutching Albert the dog... They asked a few questions, wiped some surfaces and promptly got back in their rib and back on the cutter.
We were also boarded another time while waiting outside St Kats.
Obviously word had spread about Cheryl in her nightware.

We were once sat in the lagoon in St Martin when the French customs & immigration guys arrive to check boat and documents, one lad doing it all while the other accepted a beer and explained his colleague was new, just arrived from France and learning the job. Two days later he's back again but with a different 'senior' officer. When a third senior officer brought him to ours the next afternoon, it was agreed that we didn't need searching a third time, so they both joined us for a beer 😂

Keep the maritime rozzers razzled, that seems to be good tactics, especially for Froggie SXM! :)

They have been cruising down this way with a larger diesel/jet propulsion version. We were at a wedding last summer overlooking the Helford, there was about 30kts of wind hooning down the estuary. It was very entertaining having a bird's eye view of them attempting to come alongside a couple of anchored boats. Porcine Lughole came to mind. To be fair, the yacht was swinging like mad on her anchor and the HMRC boat is a planing hull with huge windage. Even so, any drug or people smugglers would have been safe from inspection.

A casual observer might comment that they did need several goes to get alongside our landing stage / fuel pontoon.
Bit like some of our club members actually.

I chatted to some Border Force guys a couple of years ago and they weren't too flattering about their giant 'Jet Rib' boat. In fairness to them as they said, they didn't get to choose the boat. Certainly did create a loooot of wash getting into the mooring..
