Started a new thread, as my little contribution will be otherwise missed. (sorry lost a day somewhere..)
For those who went back to UK, you clearly had a great romp home. We got back at 6pm Thursday evening, having started back from CB at lunch time Sunday. Until yesterday, strong wind warnings and gale warnings have been out for the Channel Islands.
Our first leg, from CB, down the Alderney Race to Guernsey, found us bailing out of the Race to Alderney, with F5/6 W. I had thought that neaps would make the race a goer, but was actually faced with stuff which turned the boat through up to 50 or 60º in very few seconds, and the race was a raging white beast. Wind ACROSS tide even at neaps, is not good.
Monday, W/SW gale, and we saw gusts (over the top of Braye harbour wall to our masthead) of 45kts!!
Tuesday became a bit milder, and we decided that F5/6 W should be OK to slip down to Guernsey. The Swinge was pretty rough, but once on the west side near Burhou island, we got enough protection to get down and through, thence a rolliicking ride to Guernsey - oh, all this at night !!!! not our favourite place to be.... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Wednesday, we just rested whilst the near-gales whooped up from the SW.
Thursday morning was just great, with NW, F5/6 and we had a fast trip home to time arrival at Treguier immy after slack !! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

We were well pleased with the event, despite having a hard time getting back. As for family occasion, SWMBO reckons it was great. Those ladies who were there all seemed to be enjoying themselves. I can't speak for children, but see 'Little Sweetheart' in the piccys below, she certainly had a good time, and loved it all.
This event is outstanding, and puts to shame conventional sailing club 'meets'. Getting 20+boats late in the season may be assisted by the fact that all the other events are plannned in Summer??
I took some piccys, but none of the ride home - I have enough trouble warding off seasickness, without trying that...!
