Back last night from a very plez charter of a Bavaria 43 for week's short circuit of the Greek Cyclades. V nice boat, good weather, quiet anchorages and harbours and water coolish but fine after a minute. Quite fun, no queues at restaurants, often the only yacht in the bay, well received by the locals. Liked the boat too, creases in the main when in-mast-reefing looked like a future source of trouble but that was it, my first go at skippering a relatively inexperienced crew and it all went rather well.

I am Picking up a Bav 43 in Kos next month for a week around the Dodecanese - and finding information on the boat veeeerrry thin on the ground on the internet.

I believe the 43 is a New boat, but the Bav site doesn't list it?

I always like to read up on the boat before charter to know what I will have, and where to find anything etc etc.

I shall try to remember to report back when we return
(Three Men on Boat!)

I tend to find the bow at the front and the stern at the rear ...
Keel goes underneath (usually!) and mast with sails on top ...

Oh - and beer is in the fridge!

Can't see what more you want to know?! ;)

43 isn't on the UK owners assoc yet either - nor on Clipper Marine ..

Looks like Oz has got it though: http://www.northsouthyachting.com.au/yms/bavaria/content.php?Bavaria_43_Cruiser

and in the UK here: http://www.wwys.co.uk/Downloads/bavaria_sail_pdf/Bavaria 43 brochure.pdf

Looks like a fairly standard layout - linear galley, U saloon & 3 cabins ... just make sure you get the front one .... ;)

You won't find much on the 43 as it was a very short run model (2008/9) and maybe not one of their better efforts. Interior is rather like the casualty bay at MFI. That style (there was a 35 and I think a 39) was dropped very quickly as the recession bit. (I remember going over it a Soton show and thinking "what on earth were they thinking of ..." and me a Bavaria owner and fan)

Having said that, functionally it will be just fine with all the usual Bavaria equipment and refinements such as big cockpit, twin wheels, easy rig etc to suit chartering.

Enjoy it and report back.

For sure. Skippers (read: Mug who has spent an age hooking it all up) Privilege's!!

Point taken about "what's there to know" - I guess its me being sad. By reading up I feel one step closer to being afloat than sat in a miserable office !!

Only a bleedin month to go :(

Oh and the : "big cockpit, twin wheels" was part of the appeal...
