Working fine until last week .....
When engaging pilot, boat steers abruptly to port, hard up against rudder stops.
Any suggestions ?
Appears to be remains of an old previous rudder position indicator lurking in there as well as the current inline unit......
The little indicator bar on the control unit does not appear to be moving in sequence with the rudders.
Comments welcome before investigate and make matters even worse.

I would put my money on the rudder position sensor (if you have it fitted).
+1
Take a look at the sensor make sure it still connected, you will find a mark on the arm and the body , set streering in the middle then line up the two marks , also recal the pilots .
Hope you sort it out

Thanks folks, reinforced my suspicions, have been online and sourced some resistance readings which may indicate if rudder position sender has failed.
The fact there is a knackered old unit left in situ next to the connected rudder position sensor could indicate reliabilty of the things !
