I am just about to purchase 3 new batteries for my domestic bank and see that Tayna now do the XDC 31MF Numax which I assume is the AtlasBx XCD 31 MF re badged? ( moderate Start and better Cycling battery )

This battery was not available in the UK until now I think , so I think this is a bonus.

I assume the Atlasbx is manufacturing most UK batteries ( rightly or wrongly ) as other threads have suggested in the past, and according to their web site their specs are available to download here

http://www.atlasbx.co.kr/en/support...sParts=&orderBy=&oKinds=&oType=&sBoardEtc03=1

It states that charging should be by constant voltage or constant current this is not a problem on mains as I have a Ctek M300 intelligent charger.
When the engine is running it also isn’t a problem as the regulator in the 90A alternator is also doing the necessary.

My question is, when away, the 100w Solar panel will at most only produce a max of 4-5amp charge for relatively short periods of time, so will this be detrimental to the batteries longevity, only I thought I had read somewhere these batteries should not be trickle charged at all at any time?

The other option would be to just go for some BMS Hankook DC31, which are cheaper but only rated 500cycles @ 20% DOD according to Atlasbx if they are also supplying these? As always BMS don’t give cycle detail rates so assume to use Atlases.
According to Atlasbx the XDC 31MF are rated at approx 450-500 cycles @ 50 % DOD so better but at more cost, but probably better long term value.

Don't have room or funds for T105's, and governed to Numax / Hankook 31 size restraints - also need to be able to emergency start off domestic bank so D/Cycle on the odd occasion should be ok?

Have already dedicated engine start

Any comments on my question or better alternative batts, gratefully received

I have used 2 113a/h Numax 31 MFs as my domestics and they have done 7 years with no sign of dropping voltage.
I have considered replacing them but they keep on going.
You might want to look at the prices on Alpha Batteries website as well.

Thanks for that , I did look at the tables but I think that as the Numax XDC 31MF battery is relatively new on the market and as yet has not been listed in the NCC tables yet.
I did look on Manbats site and found this reference

The new range offers batteries of three categories from the very best A class range to the more affordable C class battery, all following the NCC’s leisure battery scheme to make sure you the customer is put first. Along with the prestigious NCC approval, Numax is a trusted brand offering durability and reliability for all conditions.
At the peak of Numax’s new leisure range is the XD range, consisting of the XDC extra cyclic batteries and the XDT super cyclic XDT30MF. The XD range consists of dual purpose batteries which provide you with the highest quality battery for your caravan or motorhome
Along with this the XDC range also consists of the XDC27MF (95Ah) and the XDC31MF (105Ah) both with the potential to achieve a category A NCC rating.

My existing battery I have at the moment is a Numax CXV 31 MF also 7 years old but I need to add two more, and thought I should replace them all to be of the same age in one bank. Having looked at the Atlas site spec I thought the XDC 31MF might be a better bet? Cycle wise and DOD wise, as the DC and XV are the same curve and only give 500 cycles @ 20% DOD.

Its just the charging by solar that might be of concern?

Thanks for your comments
