Junk or jewel?

I have a Kenwood R2000 long range digital radio receiver on board. It was original kit fitted to the boat and was made in 1990. So it's old. It does however work perfectly and with crystal clear reception. It's now surplus because I have disconnected the backstay aerial as I never use the thing. If it's junk then I'll probably leave it be as it has been fitted very neatly with a made to measure teak surround and once removed it leaves me with a hole to fill. If Its a jewel and worth a few quid then I would probably sell it and put the dough towards a chart plotter to fill the hole. I have no idea if this is junk or one of those pieces of kit that remains sought after by people heading offshore as it seems pretty bullet proof and works perfectly. Thanks for the thoughts.

You lucky man! It will catch any broadcast you want, including the weather fax to your laptop even without the backstay aerial.
If it were mine I'd keep it even if it was just to listen to the Archers, however if it MUST go I'd be a bidder.
The only other thing I would consider filling that particular hole in the wood with would be an upgrade to a full transciever. I bet you've already got a dynaplate fitted as well.
