We think Bosun enjoyed himself, not entirely sure about the rest of the of the crew.
Still as we are coming up to Hurley next weekend plenty of time for them to plan their revenge.

And a most excellent day it was too! A bacon and egg sarnie for breakfast on arrival. Good lunch at a country pub and a gentle meander upriver aways betwixt Yalding and Petts Wood so that we could experience a 'real lock' with beams and things. Fred even tried to make me feel at home by running over the bottom from time to time and also demonstrated the 'Medway Nudge' method of entering a lock.

Funny though....don't think we saw a single NB !! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

He is going to sing right?

"What's that 'orrible pile of spaggetti on your port quarter!!!!???"

Err if you if you mean the left hand bit of the boat at the back bit ...that is Bosun ...a hound who claims some scottish ancestry in the dim and distant past.

No I am not refering to your pooch, I am refering to that very disreputable bit of string you have attached to your boat!

I don't know, you Thames lot, really not good enough you know. I mean, one minute you are all banging on about "standards" and lifting fenders between locks etc. Then you go and let your own side down with mucky and confused bits of string attached in a most amaturish fashion to your boat!!

Now some along Carruthers!........it isn't good enough you know!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

'disreputable', 'mucky', 'confused', 'amaturish'(sic).....

Hey, steady on , old chap, oldgits ego is quite big enough without you indulging in a feeding frenzy /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Anyway, who are you? Looking at some of your other posts I am aquiring an image of some sort of self appointed, forum roaming inquisitor intent on drawing attention to everyones failings but without us knowing much about your own /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Oooooooooo!! That's a bit hard, "self appointed"?? "Inquisitor"???.........Now now, this will never do.

I was simply pointing out that as the Thames forum is very keen on maintaining standards, that perhaps they should set an example to us lower orders?? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now shut your rattle, or I will organise a NARROWBOAT! rally of humungous proportions to come and congest all your locks and moorings! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now, what on earth gave you that idea?

Well I admit that it was only from a few recent posts about lifting fenders etc. anyway, just trying to have a bit of a smile, there is no malice intended. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

"bit of string you have attached to your boat!"

Although to the casual glance it may be superficialy similar to some knotty nightmare, underneath and unobserved is a "Medway Hitch" which has been carefully developed over the years and is only used in times of high stress
ie. when a quick departure is required.
This could occur ferrinstance when one of the EA staff is observed walking up the river bank looking to collect mooring fees or to check licences etc...... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

May I impose on your good nature, and request a diagram of this alleged hitch? It sounds like something I could use. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
