Point taken, but there's a big (and generally obvious) difference between someone who knows what they're doing but makes a bit of a cock of it occasionally and someone who is just plain incompetent.
And yes, I do regularly manoevre a long keel, single screw boat.
My point is that we all had to start boating at some point, and yes we all make balls ups from time to time, but for someone to sit, in the saloon and out of sight, in an easy to manouver, twin screw boat, filming someone who is struggling, sniggering and taking the mickey is, in my veiw a disgrace. Surely, an offer of help might not have been a bad idea. I just hope the fellow driving the boat do'snt see this as I am sure he would be mortified. I thought these forums were here to further the sport and encourage newcomers, perhaps I was wrong.
Having berthed hundreds of boats over the years at boat shows I can sympathise with the guy. However I have been laughed at and insulted, its all part of the game when things go wrong. I even 'earned' the title 'Saga boat mover'.
Every boat I have berthed is different to some extent and long keeled boats can be nightmare in confined spaces, but hey is all part of lives rich tapestry so chill and enjoy watching somebody else making a cod of it as I have in the past.
oh get real, hlb & I have both had in the past difficult boats to handle. So we go outside & offer help, as I said this had been going on a while before we got the camera out. So we then say don't do this, do that, um no under the circumstances, there were already two of them on the pontoon to catch the boat.
Anyone arriving where we are, with no one on the bank/pontoon if we are on board, gets help, but its not acceptable to go out and tell others what to do.
