I thought initially it would be tender but the tumblehome would stiffen her up?

I think it's not tumblehome per se that stiffens, but the beam (in conjunction with the hull shape). Tumblehome is just beam that isn't carried all the way up to the deck. It's usually pretty, but requires a little extra care berthing.

Jouet 24 looks a generally nice boat, if perhaps a little sporty for what I imagine to be your intended purposes.

Expansive side decks for Mrs. W! (Note they're outward sloping - less reassuring when you're on the level, but when you're heeling easier than level ones on windward side, albeit at the cost of even more challenging than 'normal' on the leeward side.)

Have you a particular one in mind we can enthuse about/cast aspersions on?

Is it this one? (And is that the one you were looking at before?)

It's stern is different to the drawing in your first post and other Jouet 24s I've found pics of. It looks like very professionally done if it's had a rear extension, or perhaps it's a different model?
.

Reading through internet comments one owner remarks he puts the second reef in before furling any of the Genoa, this sounds like hard work still trying to trim the large Genoa on tacks.I suppose like many of the 1970s yachts reliant was on the gen y which is a real palaver getting the sail tacked and wicked in with some wind in it
