Hi,
Contemplating a Jouet which needs a new lifting keel as existing has rusted away! (Previous boats all encapsulated keels so this is new territory!)
Anyone any ideas about how / where to get such a thing / cost?
Advice much appreciated - also any other info about the boats welcomed.

It cant have complertely gone, so get it out and take it to a foundry. They will fair it in and prepare a sand box, and cast a new one. Not terribly expensive.

I don't know the Jouet so you may well be right. However, most swinging keels which I have come across have been made from plate steel rather than cast. Frequently the blade is too thin for casting to really be viable. Any reasonable metal basher would be able to cut to shape.

A metal basher which does not have the word "Marine" in their company name will be cheaper!

Wouldn't be so sure about it not having completely gone, there was a thread last week about a Bene 30 (I think) that turned out to have lost it's swinger. OP was something along the lines of Battleship28 or Dreadnought78 or other.

Sounds like these French 30 footers lose keels more than Bavs... Joking.
