Having tried Micron Extra with poor results I have bought 2.5 litres of Cruiser Uno BUT I may try some Jotun instead. All the reports I have seen is that you only get a film of slime even after two years. There are different strength varieties. The stronger 'SeaQueen' is said to be for professionals only but I wonder if it can still be bought ;)

Not a bad price either I think especially as I intend to keep my boat in for 2 years.

Been using Sea Queen for the last few years in the Crouch with great success. Only a slight film of slime. Also found them extremely helpful with technical data and help. + good value for money.

Yes it's very good stuff. Very effective. Perhaps not as smooth a finish as some.
Talk to Malcolm at Shepherd Marine (sml) - very helpful.

+1 for Jotun - I use Sea Force 30. Two years between antifouling and that includes being afloat over the winter and as others have said, just slime at lift out.

Shepherd Marine are doing a good deal on an antifouling pack at the moment - 2.5l of primer + 5l of antifoul + thinners for barely more than the cost of the 5l antifoul - worth a look.

If you have the cruiser UNO then use it!

I have found it pretty good in Chichester

If you dont want to use it then please feel free to leave it under my boat

I have used International Paints Primocon and Micron Extra for years and have been very happy with it, BUT,even shopping around on line Micron Extra is about £85 for 2 1/2 Ltr and Primocon £49.95 for 2 1/2 Ltr.

We checked the paint specifications of Jotun against the International and almost 'like for like' and went for Jotun Vinyguard 88 Primer at £29.94 for 5 Ltr and Seaqueen antifoul at £79.00 for 5 Ltr of each.

We also checked out the Gelshield 200 spec against Penguard HB, again hardley any differance in spec, BUT,the Jotun Penguard HB at £41.94 is almost half the price of Gelshield 200 and again you get twice as much.

Sorry International paints you have just lost two very long standing customers!

I use Jotun on Rafiki. As others say, works very well. A little bit of growth on the water line, a bit of slime below the surface. A quick pressure wash every 2 years, then another coat.

A little whisper...

I've been using Seaforce 30 since SeaGuardian finished a few years ago. Better performance than the Seaforce 60 & 90 as it polishes/disolves faster.

Just a word in t'ear....

I'm advised that there's a bit of a 'domestic' going on within Jotun UK. Seems there are paint formulations that are intended and cleared only for professionals' use, then there is a range of ever-so-slightly-different stuff that has clearance for distribution to Muggles like you and me. Now, I don't suppose either you or I give a toss, as long as we get a good price and a really effective product - but the company's Liability Lawyers do care a bit about this.

Don't therefore be surprised if Vinyguard 88 and Seaqueen 30 becomes quite difficult to get hold of.....

I used Seaqueen Seaguardian etc for years on my fishing vessel as it was what the fish coop stocked. The quality varied from can to can and I think it also varies from the different manufacturing sites. I visited the factory in Sydney one time when I was passing through, was not impressed by the workers there. Still the most popular anti foul locally for fishermen.

Sea force 30 is without a doubt the best stuff I have ever slapped on, and I have tried lots of different brands.

I'll use about one litre on the Drascombe VicS (2 litres left, think it's a 3 litre can!) if I go down the Jotun route - probably will (need to price it up properly, only need 2.5 lires!) and can leave the rest with you. PM me in a month I'll have it sorted by then ;)

SML very helpful - gone for 5 litres of Seaqueen for £106 delivered (3-4 coats for me). Lasts 3 years on the sides - that will do me for two seasons! :)

So will have some Cruiser Uno going VicS if you want it...

Good morning,
I have been using Sea Queen for 4 years on the Tamar, I can only say it is better than the likes of 'yacht antifoul, plus it is about half the price!
Last year at the Southampton Show I discussed it at the Jotun stand and they made it quite clear that it was only for professional use, mind you they were trying very hard t get me to use their 'leisure range, which is priced on a par with the rest of the leisure market.

There's very little difference between most popular antifoulings; the key difference is how much copper oxide they contain. The greater the content of copper oxide, the heavier the antifouling. So looking for a high density is an important way of distinguishing the better products. Jotun SeaQueen has a density of 1.7 but Micron Extra 2 has a density of 1.91 so has quite a bit more copper oxide in it.

Used Seaqueen for a few seasons now and its the best I have found for SW Eng. As others have said, you get a bit slime and a beard around waterline that brushes off if you're bothered by it. I'm sure it would last a couple of seasons, but I just give it rub down with a scourer each season when we come out for anodes etc, wipe it all over with thinners and then a paint on a new coat. Doesn't take long and goes on a treat.

Thinners, why

My supplier specifically asked me not to do that - possible repercussions such as cessation of supply. As you say they want yotties to use their appropriately priced range, much of which is the same products in different tins.
