Hi,
I'm hoping that someone may have some thoughts on resolving a problem I have run into.

As part of servicing the outboard I found the lower gear oil had water in it. Ordered new seals but I can't get the nylon hub off the shaft to replace them. I assume the shaft has corrosion. I have tried WD40 for a week, sticking it in freezer overnight, it went in the oven in foil at 150'C air cooled a bit then into cold water. It already had the crack in it, I have removed the pin.

Any ideas for a non destructive removal? As you can see by the (hopefully) attached photo that the pullers are deforming it but not moving it :-(

Thanks for reading,

Rich

Support the bearing housing ( suitably protected ) across the jaws of an engineers vice and try to knock the shaft through using a decent sized hammer and a brass drift , but only if that does not graunch the hub against the housing

Nylon, or any other plastics which it is likely to be, expands much more than stainless steel therefore try doing it hot

Edit: It seems there is a steel insert in that nylon hub. That may be the problem.
