I have bought a Starley Sea Nymph complete with a Johnson 25 HP engine. I would like to swap it for a small roller coaster trailer + more suitable engine of say 9.9HP. The Johnson is 1999 and I have been told run for 15 hours max. Any use to anyone?

Last post based on vendors info, the engine is in fact 1989 not 1999! It has very low hours and I would still like to exchange if for something smaller, ie 9.9/15 HP if anyone in the Oxfordshire area is interested.

Just a word of warning John on changing your engine for a 9.9 / 15HP. IF you are going for a Four Stroke motor, avoid the Johnson/ Evinrude as they are BIG trouble. They where never completely developed and suffer from amonst other things, overheating which warpes the cylinder head, cracking of the exhaust stub which fills the hood with exhaust and stifles the engine. There are expensive electrical problems with the more recent Evinrude branded engines. These are all problems that I and many others have experienced over the last 5 years. my motor 9.9HP new in 1995 is now uneconomical to repair and will be hitting the bottom of a skip at the end of the season to be relaced by a Honda. The basic concept of the Johnson was good but it has been let down by underdevelopment in the rush to get it onto the market to try to stall the inevitable collapse of OMC who
produced them.
