John Leather RIP

John Leather 1928-2006
It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic news of the death of consulting editor, John Leather. John died at home in Rowhedge, surrounded by his family, on 17 February, after being diagnosed with advanced cancer two weeks previously.

As our consulting editor, John was a cornerstone of the magazine, and one of its most frequent contributors from the start. John was widely respected as a yachting historian, particularly of the East Coast. We will publish a tribute in our May issue (CB).
Our heartfelt sympathy goes to John's family and his many friends. We will miss him greatly.

I have corresponded and spoken on the telephone with him in the past. He was a really nice person and very willing to help. He will be dearly missed by many.
