Great YouTube video by John Boyle for MBY to go with the article in the latest issue of the magazine.

It’s a great cruising ground from Cork around to the Shannon Estuary. Perfect transport links with airports in Cork, Kerry and Shannon.
I’m planning to do a few weeks cruising around this area in June/July next year.

Interesting comment regarding North African pirates enslaving a whole village, never to be seen again. MSM would have us believe it was solely British ships involved in this trade. Bit controversial...

There’s a very nice pub in Baltimore called The Algiers Inn which gets its name from the raid. It is amazing to think that a village in west cork was raided by North African slavers.

The same happened in Cornwall. Almost entire villages taken by Moroccan pirates. I forget which village on the south coast down here, but one night alone 70-80 taken away for slavery. Similarly with the fishermen, bad weather was less of a risk than being caught at see by the Moors.
