Jetrib versus dinghy

Anyone any opinion on the advantages or not of a jetrib v an outboard? We are looking at upgrading a tender and want enough power to tow toys and/or a water skier. I have a feeling that the flat bottomed jetrib could be pulled off its path by the skier behind.
