Some may have remembered this post by RogerRat - titled "Look What Just Turned up at Sparkes"

See here

This was one of the pics

After, literally thousands of miles, this was picked up on JennyWren's AIS display.

Yep - even though the name had been entered incorrectly by her suppliers, and she was displaying her length incorrectly, we recognised her.

I'm sure that some of you will find this amusing when her owners get back to Sparkes later this week. Just ask them "Did the Rhino drop a Wollock"

Well, anyway, JennyWren and Warlock finally got together.

Here's Warlock under way - what a fab boat.
We've also got some video footage but the marina WiFi isnt fast enough to upload it - maybe later.

And JennyWren showing her where the best local spots are.

And then eventually they just "chill out" together.

Here's hoping this will be the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
Although recently arrived from the UK (and like JennyWren) on her own bottom, Warlock has just completed several months cruising round the Balearics. So, its now Warlock's turn to show JennyWren some of those beautiful anchoriges.

Blimey its a tough life down there in the med !! . Seriously though , they are both FAB boats and hope that you all have a great time on them , ( selling house asap !! )

This is a great post , the more pictures the better !

Could we have some pictures of the engines?

Sad Tom

I only have pics of JW's - and only those that are already on Photobucket
This is JW's engine room

And these are the same MTU units (CR2000 - thats 2.2 litres per cylinder) on the bench in the training lab

And this gives an idea of the scale

JW's are V8s - the ones in the lab were V12s

I've not seen Warlock's engines -I believe they are Man 800/900s

Nice pics mike. Esp the one of JW from her starboard quarter, underway, heeled to starboard.

What hours/miles are you up to now? (Interested to see if I'm catching you up!)

Hi Mike,

Just curious, what's that red bar that looks like it's welded to the top of the stb engine exhaust belows?

The reason I ask is that I've had to replace the belows twice on our port CAT C12 over the last two years as they've split (I think due to a misalignment prob that's hopefully now fixed), and also perhaps not helped by continous engaging/disengaging of g/box's when crawing up rivers like the Hamble.

Also slightly surprised to see no lagging over your belows, but in fairness I'm only used to seeing the ones in our boat that are really heavily lagged with something that looks like it's comeoff a spaceship...all shiny and silvery.
cheers.

Sorry, I dont know - the pic of the engine room was taken in the Plymouth factory and they hadnt quite finished the installation.

The actual miles that JW has done recently is difficult to get exact - although I've got a log, the ST6000 reading is false - the log wheel is a bit clogged with barnacles at the moment so its still reading just short of 4000 nautical miles.

But a fact I'm not too proud of is that she is just over a year old and has burned a little under 50,000 litres of fuel - wow how it hurts to say that.

Mike, sorry if telling you how to suck eggs here but you might find there's a gps log in the raymarine memory. I discovered this recently, and now use this as my log rather than the paddlewheel. If you go into the configuration set up for the rolling road screen you can select which bit of data you want in each box, and there you should find an option to display is ground log. In fact there are (iirc) 5 ground log memories, so you can use them as trips. I can't get it to display on the ST70s, only on the big screens

Anyway, I'm nowhere near catching you up :-). I'm at 250 hours and 2450nm (ground long), as of last weekend, I don't know the fuel total but could add it up from the log book. It'll be quite a bit less than 50k litres :-)

Ah - thanks - I didnt think of using the GPS log as a ships historical log. Up to noiw, I've been using the paddle wheel log but it gets covered in barnacles quite quickly - thanks, I'll change to the Raymarine one.

What a useful tip - thanks. I've just gone off and found this in my lowly C120 as well - ideal.

Cheers

jfm

I've just had a few minutes playing with the Log on the Raymarine.
As you say, there are several "Ground Logs/ Trips" that you can set.
Just a simple Ground Log does it for me - thanks for the advice.

Maybe I can add something to this great little tip.

The G Series lets you put a row of databoxes at the top of the screen.
I'd be very surprised if the C and E Series dont do the same.

I have them set for things like
Local Time
SOG / COG
Lat Long
Time and Distance to next waypoint
Bearing and Distance to Cursor.
AND NOW - GROUND TRIP

If this facility is on the E / C Series it would be the best place for Ground Trip - IMO
